Welcoming Your Frenchie Home
Everything you'll need before the big day.
Before the big day
Getting Ready
Few things are as exciting as welcoming your new French Bulldog home. These little charmers bring endless joy, laughter and cuddles. Having everything set up in advance makes the transition smoother and less stressful for you and your new pup.
- 01
Collar, Leash and ID Tag
Your Frenchie's first accessories should be a comfortable, well-fitted collar and a sturdy leash. Add an ID tag engraved with your name and phone number, which is essential in case your pup ever wanders off. Check your city's regulations too: most require a yearly licence for your pets.
- 02
Food and Water Bowls
Choose stainless steel or ceramic bowls. They are durable, easy to clean and less likely to harbour bacteria than plastic. Make sure they are shallow enough for your Frenchie's short snout.
- 03
High-Quality Dog Food
Diet plays a huge role in a French Bulldog's health. Choose a high-quality food made for small breeds, ideally one that supports joints, digestion and a shiny coat. At MonRoyal Frenchies we are big advocates of raw food: we and our families have had amazing results, and we are happy to tell you more.
- 04
A Comfortable Bed and Cozy Blankets
Your Frenchie needs a warm, soft place to rest. A plush, washable bed and a few cozy blankets make a comforting den for the first nights. We send every baby home with a blanket that carries the smell of their mama and littermates to ease the transition.
- 05
Grooming Supplies
Frenchies are low-maintenance, but regular care is still key. Keep a gentle dog shampoo, a brush for short coats, nail clippers or a grinder, and ear cleaner with cotton pads on hand. Grooming helps you bond, and getting them used to it early makes all the difference later.
- 06
Chew Toys
Frenchies love to chew. A variety of safe chew toys keeps teeth clean, eases teething and keeps household items from becoming snacks.
- 07
Poop Bags, Play Pen and Potty Tray
Be ready for house training from day one. Stock up on poop bags for walks and a potty tray for the first weeks. A pen or gated area keeps your puppy safe until fully trained. It's what they're used to with us, so it helps the transition go smoothly.
- 08
Puppy-Proof Your Home
Look around from a puppy's point of view. Block access to stairs, secure electrical cords, remove small choking hazards and keep cleaning products and plants out of reach. Frenchies are curious explorers, so remove dangers early.
Final tip
Prepare With Love
Beyond the shopping list, the most important things you can give your French Bulldog are time, patience and affection. They thrive on companionship and quickly become part of the family. With the right preparation, your Frenchie's arrival will be filled with butt wiggles, kisses and unforgettable memories.
